‘Puggers’ celebrate 15th birthday

Supporters of the organisation took part in games and challenges in celebration of the auspicious occasion.

Barks, cake and cheers marked Pug Rescue SA’s 15 birthday celebration on March 4.

Loyal supporters, pug parents and even a couple of overseas visitors took part in the festivities.

While some opted to enjoy the day sipping on a refreshing beverage, others ran amok, squaring off with a game of musical chairs, treading carefully to avoid pugs and small breed friends playing in the grass.

“The past 15 years have had their fair share of challenges. However, being able to celebrate our anniversary is a privilege,” said Malcolm Gaw, one of the organisation’s founding members.

“We look forward to getting to work on the legacy project, which will see the organisation move to the neighbouring property, which was donated to the cause by an anonymous donor.

“This property will become the new home of Pug Rescue.”

During the cake-cutting, Cheryl Gaw said that without the continued support from ‘puggers,’ the organisation would not have been able to give refuge to the many neglected and abandoned pugs in their care.

“As long as animals need a safe and loving home, we will be there to tend to their needs,” she said.
