Gas tanker tragedy: Memorial staff victims remembered

The death toll has risen to 38.

Tambo Memorial Hospital is mourning the death of 10 permanent and two nursing agency staff members who died in the gas tanker explosion. Below are the available photos and names of staff who lost their lives, as supplied by the hospital:

* Evelyn Bore Majatladi (55) was born in Limpopo and enrolled at Lungile Nursing College after school. She previously worked at Deansgate Retirement Home and Netcare Milpark. She was married with five children and nine grandchildren. She died on Christmas Eve.

* Moshemane Billyboy Mahoa (43) had only taken five days of sick leave in 12 years as an employee of Tambo Memorial, where he worked as a driver. He is survived by his fiancé, two sons, a daughter, and four siblings. He died on Christmas Eve.

* Nthabiseng Patricia Modisakeng (40) died on December 28.

* Kgothatso Magopane (41).

* Siphowokuhle Thandeka Mbatha (38) was placed at the hospital by a nursing agency and died on December 29.

* Thokozile Ellen Xaba (54) was also placed at the hospital by a nursing agency.
