Book some holiday fun at Sci-Bona

Visitors can see the creation of some interesting art with the only South African product to go to space

For years, the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown has been offering kids/young people fun and educational holiday activities and an enticing, exciting break from what can often be long and tedious days of little to do during the holidays.

Their holiday programme kicks off on December 17 and runs until January 9.

Other than the dozens of fun-filled educational interactive models that delight visitors all year round, the centre is looking forward to showcasing the famous ‘Ice Cream Show’.

Visitors will be shown how liquid nitrogen is used in making ice cream and with simple ingredients found in the kitchen, as well as provided with the five-minute way to make ice cream.

The Prately Bonding Art Workshop is a fun demonstration of how metals can stick together in three seconds and offers many fun-filled facts about adhesives and the bonding process.

The centre has also again hosted its flagship holiday camp, aptly known as The Apprentice Doctor, where 100 learners from over the country were taken through what it means to be a medical doctor.

The full summer holiday programme and details may be viewed at www.sci-bono.co.za. Hurry as workshops fill up quickly and space is at a premium.

Sci-Bona is a world-class science centre that supports maths, science and technology education and offers innovative, dynamic learning experiences that contribute to building South Africa’s science, engineering and technology capacity.
