Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp comes alive at Emperors

Journey to a faraway land where a magical genie can make all your wishes come true

When we think of Aladdin, images of a mysterious desert, wish-granting genies and jewel adorned royalty come to mind.

It is a classic ‘rags to riches’ tale with a young hero, a beautiful princess, an evil villain, complete with genies, wishes and magic, but the new Astrid Productions play, adapted by producer Anjil Naidoo showcases a new dimension of the classic tale.

According to director Glenn Hayden, while researching the original story the team found that there was more to the tale than just the ‘boy meets girl’ story.

“The tale will not only enthral audiences but remind them there is hope, dreams, love, respect and care within all of us which can unlock the ability to live happy fulfilled lives,” said Hayden.

“Pair that with the amazing artistry and vision of an incredible creative team. You have a thrilling production full of colour, music, dance and a fine story that reminds us that the magic is in us all.”

With the inclusion of an original score, riveting choreography, a script that is fun, witty and heartfelt this is a production that no child, adult, or theatre lover would want to miss.

The show kicks off at the Theatre of Marcellus from November 25 to December 4.

Tickets are available from Ticketpro.
