The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) remains on high alert for anticipated severe thunderstorms and rain.
According to spokesperson William Ntladi, the unit is monitoring the situation to assist and respond to any incidents of flooding.
“The main concern is the low-lying areas and low-lying bridges prone to flooding,” he said.
“Pedestrians and motorists are advised to remain vigilant when crossing waterlogged streams.”
He warned that with poor visibility and pooling of water on roadsides being eminent, motorists are advised to keep a good following distance and reduce their speed.
