Enter Night Race or get ready to cheer from your driveway

Online entries for the Benoni Northerns Night Race close on October 19 and late entries allowed too!

Runners and walkers of all fitness levels have been urged to enter the Benoni Northerns Night Race set for October 26.

The race, which is normally awash with colour and costumes, offers 5km and 10km runs through the streets of Benoni, with festive water stops, music and lights along the route.

The BNAC is, furthermore, pleading with the community to support the event by lighting up their driveways and standing on their pavements to cheer the athletes on.

“With a passion for athletics evident and growing in Ekurhuleni, Benoni Northern’s Athletics Club calls young runners to be part of this year’s BNAC Night Race.

“There are prizes for the school with the most online entries in the fun run and the school with the first 10 athletes finishing the 10km.

“Sponsor Jan L. Jordaan encourages young athletes to wear their school kit for the race. Children must be 15 years old to do the 10km. There is no age restriction for the 5km. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult,” BNAC administrator Kerry Webb said.

Webb hailed the spirit showed by Benonians in the past in supporting the race. She urged the community to show up and ensure the runners glow in the dark.

“A big part of what makes the BNAC Night Race so special is the residents of Benoni who light up their driveways and stand outside to cheer on the runners. We hope to see this Benoni spirit shining on the day.”

Online entries are available until October 19 at www.bnac.co.za. Companies and schools wishing to do a bulk entry can email races@bnac.co.za.

Late entries will be taken at Jan L. Jordaan Inc. Attorneys situated at 1 Forster Street, Rynfield on October 24 and 25 from 09:00 to 15:00, and on race day from 09h00 at Benoni Northerns Sports Grounds.
