Rand Water restricts water in Ekurhuleni

Community support is needed to conserve water

Rand Water implemented stage two water restrictions across Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg and Tshwane on October 4.

In a media statement, the water utility said restrictions are needed due to the rapid reduction in reservoir levels.
The overall reservoir storage capacity has dropped from 52% to 38%, in the past two weeks, resulting in low to no water supply in certain areas.

It is hoped that by the implementation of these restrictions the overall storage capacity will be restored to 60%.

Help save water by applying these measures:
• Use a bucket to wash your car.
• Water your garden between sunset and sunrise.
• Use a broom to clean driveways instead of a hosepipe.
• Turn the tap off while washing hands and brushing teeth.
• Repair water leaks immediately.
• Close all taps after use.
• Cover swimming pools to guard against rapid evaporation.
• Install low flow restrictions on taps.
• Re-use bathwater to water the garden
• Use water efficient dishwashers.
