Joshua in need of assistance to represent South Africa

The pageant is run under the auspices of MWI International, which is designed to showcase the beauty, intelligence, art and style of every woman and man.

Joshua Rushton from Witfield will be representing South Africa and the Down syndrome community as MMI Phenomenal Mr Gauteng, in Dubai, in an international pageant at the end of August 2022.

Joshua was crowned on June 16, 2019, at Image Lifestyle.

The multi-talented 23-year-old will now finally be competing in the international pageant finals in Dubai after the function was postponed on numerous occasions, since 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Joshua has an incredible zest for life.

He is a provincial gymnast competing against able-bodied gymnasts, an athlete and small business owner. He also volunteers at the SPCA.

Not only will Joshua be going after an international title, but he will be one of a limited number of young adults with Down syndrome participating in an international pageant.

His parents, Sharon and Pastor John, are extremely excited that Joshua has this opportunity.

Joshua is, however, in need of funds make this dream come true.

Some of Joshua’s donors requested their funding back after the cancellations and Joshua is now in need of sponsors.

The Advertiser previously reported Pastor John believes his son has been awarded the prestigious recognition of the MMI title because even though he was dealt a short hand at birth, he continues to rise above his challenges and continues to face life with a ‘can do’ attitude.

If you can assist in any way, contact Sharon on 082 724 3610.
