WATCH: Mayor set to meet with Thembisans
Residents of the area demanded that Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell address them regarding an increase in water and electricity tariffs.
The City of Ekurhuleni announced that the Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell will meet with the residents of Thembisa at Mehlareng Stadium this morning, August 5.
During the event, which will start at 09:00, the mayor is expected to respond to the memorandum of grievances recently submitted to the city.

Ekurhuleni mayor addresses residents of Thembisa at the Mehlareng Stadium following the violent protests over water and electricity tariffs earlier in the week.
Among the issues raised by the residents in the memorandum of grievances were billing queries, unsatisfactory service from customer care centre staff and the alleged tariff inequalities between various townships in the city.
The mayor will be joined by members of the mayoral committee and multi-party coalition partners.
