Ekurhuleni fills vacancies following redeployments

The councillors bring a wealth of experience in local governance.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has replaced the two DA councillors, who recently left their seats in council after accepting their redeployments to the Gauteng Legislature.

Council Speaker Nthabiseng Tshivhenga has on July 18 officiated the swearing-in of Jordan Lotriet and Busisiwe Radebe.
They are replacing the DA’s Mike Waters and Khathutshelo Rasilingwane, who were elected to represent the DA in the provincial legislature following the results of the 2024 general elections.

Tshivhenga welcomed the pair and wished them well in serving the people of the city with integrity and upholding their sworn oath.
Meanwhile, the DA in Ekurhuleni congratulated the two councilors.

DA deputy leader in the city, Patricia Mathebula, said the two residents of Ekurhuleni bring a wealth of experience in local governance to the caucus and will add great value to residents of the city through their commitment to serve and contribute towards building a better service delivery focused city.

She worked for a risk and auditing firm as a trainee from mid-2020 to 2021 before she returned to the DA as a constituency coordinator in the Johannesburg region between 2021 and 2022.
In 2022, she was promoted to DA Gauteng East regional manager, responsible for coordinating campaigns in Ekurhuleni and managing a team of constituency-level coordinators. This was until she recently became a councillor.
