Residents urged to use water sparingly amidst high demand due to heatwave

Residents are further encouraged to visit the city’s digital platforms for updates related to water situation.

The City of Ekurhuleni has noted a strain on the water supply system due to the current high temperatures which are currently exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.
The city, therefore, urges customers to use water sparingly to reduce demand.

“Reduction of demand is particularly important since the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast that temperatures may persist for the rest of the week.
“Gauteng residents will have to contend with the heat for a while further. People and animals will need more water in this regard.
“The city strongly appeals to residents to keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day and stay hydrated at all times while using the water responsibly and sparingly,” explained metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

Dlamini assured residents that the city’s technicians are continuously monitoring the reservoir levels to ensure there is sufficient water supply, and water tankers will be provided to areas that may experience a supply interruption as and when the need arises.
Residents are further encouraged to visit the city’s digital platforms for updates related to water situation.
