Three men fatally shot in two incidents over the weekend

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information about the shootings to come forward.

Three people were fatally shot in two incidents in the Boksburg North policing precinct on August 24.

In the first incident, the bodies of two men were found inside a white Toyota Hilux at about 19:00 in Rietfontein Road, near Dayan Avenue.

According to provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, a security guard noticed the abandoned bakkie.

“As he approached the vehicle, which was full of blood, he saw two men inside,” said Masondo.

Paramedics were contacted, and they were both certified dead.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased are father and son, aged 65 and 44.”

Masondo said the murders are suspected to be related to taxi violence but could not divulge further information at this stage.

Police are investigating a case of double murder.

Garage shooting
Another man (36) was shot and killed following an armed robbery at the Engen garage on Pretoria Road at about 21:00.

According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, an armed man told the cashier on duty to give him all the money in the till.

“He then took an undisclosed amount of money and two energy drinks from the shelves and left,” said Mngomezulu.

Mngomezulu said on his way out he shot a man who parked his company tow truck in front of the garage.

“The victim was shot on the right side of the abdomen and on the right thigh. He was taken to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.”

Mngomezulu said no arrests have been made, and police are investigating a case of business robbery and murder.

The station commander could not divulge any other information as investigations are ongoing.

A well-placed source told the Boksburg Advertiser that the robber was on foot and that he ran towards the Angelo informal settlement.

The owner of the garage declined to comment on the matter.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects in the incidents to contact Boksburg North Police Station on 011 960 0100 crime stop on 08600 10111.
