Another man killed in Reiger Park

This incident happened on the street where the slain Shayden Theron from the city's stormwater department was laid to rest earlier that day.

Reiger Park SAPS is investigating a case of murder after a 22-year-old man was shot dead in Clarence September Street on February 17.

Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Constable Johannes Msimanga said the police received a call about a shooting at 22:00.

“Upon arrival, police found a man lying on the ground with a bullet wound to his chest,” said Msimanga.

He was declared dead on the scene.

Msimanga said the motive of the shooting is under investigation.

This incident happened on the street where the slain Shayden Theron from the city’s stormwater department was laid to rest earlier that day. Theron was shot at least 13 times on Commissioner Street on February 9 while he and his colleagues were removing waste and cleaning grass at around midday.

Last year, the Boksburg Advertiser reported on murders that continued to plague Reiger Park.

A 29-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of Reiger Park Secondary School on the evening of December 12.

On the same day, a 50-year-old man ended up in hospital after being shot multiple times while waiting in a car in Clarence September Street.

Other recent murders in the area:
• Jade Vries (17) was killed by two armed robbers on Princess Avenue in Delmore Gardens on October 27.
• Levano Visagie (17) and Dillon Riddles (28) were killed in the vicinity of Cosmos Street, Reiger Park, on October 31.
