The metro appeals to residents who may have any information to come forward.

The City of Ekurhuleni said it is saddened by the passing of one of its employees who was killed in a hit-style attack while on duty on February 9.

The employee of the city’s roads and stormwater department, Shayden Theron (28), died after he was shot at least 13 times while he and his colleagues were carrying out their duties next to the Boksburg Bowling Club in Commissioner Street around midday.

“This is a very sad and shocking incident. We are deeply pained by the untimely death of one of our own and we send our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues during this trying time,” said metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

The killer is still at large. It is still unclear what the motive of the shooting was, but police are investigating a case of murder.
“We appeal to residents who may have any information to come forward and report it to the Boksburg Police Station,” appeals Dlamini.
Anyone who has information in connection with the attack may contact the investigating officer Detective Mokoena on 083 866 6271.
