Boksburg escapee’s freedom short-lived

The prisoner reportedly escaped while part of a crew removing rubbish from the premises and offloading it at a dumping site.

A prisoner, who escaped from Boksburg Correctional Services on January 11, was re-arrested a day later.

According to Sello Modise, the prison’s spokesperson, Macdonald Don escaped while part of a crew removing rubbish from the premises and offloading it at a dumping site.

“The official guarding the team noticed the offender escaping while he was driving a tractor to the dumping site,” explained Modise.

Don was found the next afternoon hiding in a shack in Windmill Park and re-arrested by correctional officers.

Modise explained Don is serving 176 days for a parole violation.

The Boksburg Advertiser is awaiting confirmation of any additional charges Don may now face.
