Three people killed in Boksburg shootings

Reiger Park residents are keen on finding the suspects.

A 17-year-old boy, Levano Visagie, was killed allegedly by stray bullets while buying sweets at a shop in Cosmos Street, Reiger Park, on October 31.

It’s alleged that this happened when an unknown gunman fired shots at the 28-year-old man Dillon Riddles in the vicinity of Cosmos Street.

Dillon succumbed to the gunshot wounds. This is according to the spokesperson of Reiger Park Police, Constable Johannes Msimanga.

Msimanga said the police received a tip-off about the shooting in Cosmos Street around 19:30.

“When they arrived at the crime scene they found two lifeless bodies on the ground. Present were the members of the Reiger Park Community Medic and Chaplaincy (RPCMC),” said Msimanga.

He added that no one has been arrested so far and two murder cases have been opened by the police.
A member of the RPCMC, Kevin Koopman, said they received an alert about the shooting and rushed to the scene.

By the time they arrived, the victims were already dead.
In another case
A 17-year-old girl, Jade Vries, was killed allegedly by two armed robbers along Princess Avenue in Delmore Gardens on October 27.

Msimanga said it is alleged that the suspects robbed the girl of her cellphone and shot her in the process.
“Police were notified of the murder around 19:40, and they immediately went to the scene. On arrival, they found the girl dead on the passenger seat of a purple Honda Ballade.”

Msimanga said the traumatised mother of the child said she parked the car to buy cookies at one of the houses.

“While the mother was inside the house she heard a gunshot and ran out of the house to check what was happening. She found her daughter dead. She believes the people who killed her daughter also took her daughter’s cellphone.”

Msimanga added that a case of murder and theft was opened and the suspects have not been arrested yet.

Anyone with any information about the three murders may call the Reiger Park station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Bongani Dube, on 082 775 2682 or 10111.
