Flying squad news in brief

A 34-year-old man was arrested on charges of bribery.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested seven suspects during routine operations from October 2 to 9.

Recovery of truck and trailer
Following up on information from a trucking company on October 5, BFS members recovered a red Scania truck with two super link trailers in Taljaard Road, Jet Park.

The truck and trailers were reported as stolen in Alberton.
During their search, an additional two trailers were found, which had been reported as stolen in Germiston.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on the scene and will be appearing in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of being in possession of stolen vehicles.

Possession of counterfeit goods
On October 9, at 01:00 officers came across two women standing next to 10 large bags wrapped in plastic.

“While patrolling the R23 near Main Reef Road, Benoni officers spotted the suspects,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.

“Suspecting that something was amiss the officers proceeded to conduct a search of the bags and found they contained counterfeit shoes to the value of R100 000. The women were arrested and taken to the Benoni Police Station.”

According to Giblin, while at the police station, officers were approached by a 34-year-old man, offering them R10 000 for the women’s release.
“He was arrested on charges of bribery and will be appearing in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court along with the women,” he said.

Possession of drugs
Three suspects were arrested on charges of being in possession of drugs.

This man was among three others who were arrested on charges of being in possession of drugs.

Heroine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated on Goods and High roads, Brakpan, as well as Soma Road, Actonville.

Abandoned vehicle
A black Toyota Fortuner was recovered in Jubilee Road, Boksburg South.

It was reported as stolen in Edenvale.
