Armed robbery, house robbery and hijacking reported at the Boksburg North SAPS

The following cases were recently opened at the Boksburg North SAPS.

A man was hijacked at the East Rand Traders Square flea market on the afternoon of February 19.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Justice Ramaube, an armed man approached the passenger door of the victim’s vehicle as he was about to leave the market.

“The robber told the man to drive to Kempton Park, where the man was told to stop and get out of the vehicle,” said Ramaube.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured.

Police are investigating a case of hijacking.

A Beyers Park family was robbed of items valued at R100 000 during a house robbery on February 18.

According to Ramaube, the incident happened at 14:20.

“The husband, wife, their two kids and their estate agent were home. Three robbers, two armed, entered the garage as the husband opened it for the estate agent to leave,” Ramaube added.

The robbers demanded cash and cellphones from everyone. They also searched through the house and took five cellphones and two laptops.

Nobody was injured. Police are investigating a case of house robbery.

A man was robbed of R190 000 in an armed robbery at FNB on North Rand Road on the morning of February 14.

According to Ramaube, the victim was at the bank to deposit money for his company.

“As he entered the cubicle to deposit the money into the electronic machine, a man started banging on the door, screaming he must exit because he does not have a ticket,” he added.

When the man exited the cubicle, the robber pointed a firearm at him and demanded the money in the bank.

The man then saw two other robbers with the armed man.

Nobody was injured.

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
