3 arrested after suspect’s body found in shallow grave in Boksburg

The mob attack victim's body was found buried in a shallow grave and wrapped in wrapped in refuse bags.

Three men have been arrested for the kidnapping and murder of a house break-in suspect, whose body has been found hidden in shallow grave in the a mine dump in Delmore Gardens.

The trio was arrested by the EMPD Special Task Team on February 15 in the township, following a registered missing person case.
The suspect, along with his accomplice, were allegedly caught breaking into a property in Driefontein informal settlement during January.

“They were caught and reportedly assaulted by six members of the community who took the law into their own hands. During the process, the suspect succumbed to his wounds and his body went missing. His accomplice escaped,” explained EMPD media liaison officer Katlego Mphahlele.

Acting on a tip-off, three of the six men allegedly involved in the assault were arrested.
“The apprehended trio, aged between 23 and 37, reportedly confessed to the killing and voluntary agreed to take the EMPD officers to a shallow grave in the mine dump.
“The SAPS, EMPD and other stakeholders visited the location where the man’s body wrapped in refuse bags was found.”
The three suspects were detained at the Reiger Park Police Station and they are expected to appear at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
The hunt is on for the remaining suspects.
