Woman reports she was raped at New Year’s Eve party
The suspect who was arrested has been released.
Boksburg North SAPS is investigating the alleged rape of a woman in her 20s at a popular music festival on New Year’s Eve.
According to station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, police were told the incident happened between 23:00 and 02:00.
A suspect in his 20s was arrested and appeared in court.
It’s alleged the man is a lifeguard at the venue where the festival was held, however, the station commander could not confirm this.
“A breakthrough came when the victim visited the scene with the police. More information can’t be divulged at this stage,” Mngomezulu said.
He added the suspect was released and the investigation was handed over to the Family Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Unit.
Police are awaiting DNS results.
