A team of EMPD officers descended on Boksburg North on the night of November 25 and raided various taverns and liquor outlets to check for compliance.
According to the EMPD media liaison officer Katlego Mphahlele, the blitz was aimed at clamping down on licenced outlets that were non-compliant with the conditions of their trading permits, tax clearance certificates and liquor licences, as well as the city’s by-laws, including noise levels.
The operation saw officers from the Boksburg precinct raiding outlets on Cason, Campbell and Main Reef roads.
These included 50 Cent Tavern, Felasa’s Pub, Rising Sun Pub and Rising Sun Liquor Store.
All these outlets were found to be operating in compliance with the regulations.
The EMPD said it is committed to continuing to ramp up tavern blitz, while encouraging liquor licence holders to adhere to their licence conditions.
“We advise business people to visit the nearest customer care centre to obtain more information on how to operate their businesses legally,” said Mphahlele.
