Meet new Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson

Msimanga pointed out that dealing with all the social ills in the area needs an 'all hands on deck' approach from police, other government institutions, community organisations and the community at large

The new Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson aims to break all the barriers to ensure effective working relationships and communication between the police station and the community they serve.

The 35-year-old Constable Johannes Msimanga took up his new role as spokesperson on October 13, replacing the former communications officer Constable Zanele Motaung who has been assigned back to the police shift system.
“Improving communication with our community and ensuring effective working relations and partnership with stakeholders are high on my list of priorities. I’m already in consultation with my senior colleagues and management over how we can improve our communication process,” said Msimanga.

He stated that other priorities for the station include dealing with drug-related crimes and domestic violence, as well as the identified contributing factors to violence such as illegal shebeens.

Msimanga pointed out that dealing with all these ills also needs an ‘all hands on deck’ approach from police, other government institutions, community organisations such as churches, NPOs, parents and the community at large.
“We are already working on improving our partnership with local schools as these are areas where any kind of criminal mischief among youngsters can be nipped in the bud.”

Born and bred in Qwaqwa, Free State, Motaung matriculated at Mosiuoa Lekota Secondary School and worked for different companies before undergoing training at the Tshwane Police Academy. He then joined the Reiger Park SAPS in 2017.
“We wish him well on the new role and trust that he will do well,” said one of Msimanga’s colleagues, Sergeant Mashudu Phathela.
