Shopkeeper killed in robbery

Reiger Park station commander Lieutenant Colonel Roets described the suspects as 'very dangerous'

The police have launched a manhunt after a man was fatally shot by a gang of robbers at a business in Boksburg on October 13.

According to Constable Msimang from Reiger Park SAPS the 29-year-old man was inside his spaza shop in Delmore informal settlement when one of the robbers arrived at about 07:00 pretending to be a customer.

“The security door of the shop was closed and the robber stood outside, took out an R100 note and told the victim that he wanted to buy a 12.5kg maize meal.
“The shopkeeper told the man that the money is not enough, and thereupon, the man took out a gun and aimed it at the shopkeeper.
“Seven other men, armed with knives, joined in and they all forced the security gate open.

“They ransacked the shop and took an undisclosed amount of money from the till. The victim ran towards the door, but one of the suspects fired two shots and hit him in the upper body. He died on the scene,” said Msimang.
The suspects fled the scene on foot with their loot, including cigarettes, airtime and money.

Reiger Park station commander Lieutenant Colonel Roets described the suspects as ‘very dangerous’ and is appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
