Bank clients robbed of cash
People carrying large cash are at high risk of being followed and robbed.
Boksburg police warn bank clients carrying large cash of a bank following robberies trend.
According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Ntsako Ledwaba, detectives are investigating two recent separate cases where the victims were robbed after they had withdrawn large sums of money from the bank.
Investigators believe the victims were followed after withdrawing the money from their respective banks.
“In the first incident, the victim had just left the bank in Sunward Park where he deposited money when he was confronted by the robbers driving in a car. He had finished putting petrol from a garage in Sunward Park when the attackers pointed a gun at him as his car was stationary at a nearby traffic light.
“They forced him out of his car and dragged him into their car. Here he was at gunpoint instructed to open his bank app and transfer over R40 000 to another account, believed to be that of the robbers.
“In the other robbery, the victim had withdrawn just over R30 000 from a bank in Benoni. The criminals approached him after he got out of an e-hailing service outside his company in Boksburg.
“They threatened the victims with a firearm and took all the money,” said Ledwaba.
