Volunteer to make a difference at Girl Guides

As the Boksburg Girl Guides continue to grow, they remain committed to empowering girls and creating a supportive environment where they can thrive.

The Boksburg Girl Guides and Ranger units search for dedicated adult volunteers to help guide and inspire young girls through various activities and programmes.

Clair Murphy, Girl Guides SA regional commissioner for Gauteng East, emphasised the importance of community involvement in fostering leadership skills among girls.

“We are looking for adult leaders who can commit to running a Guiding unit, but we also welcome anyone willing to lend a hand in other capacities.

“Whether you can assist with fundraising, teach new skills, or organise outdoor activities, your contribution will make a significant difference.”

The organisation is particularly interested in individuals with expertise in crafts, nature conservation and community service projects.

Volunteers can offer as much or as little time as they can spare, making it an accessible opportunity for many.

Murphy highlighted the motto of Girl Guides, ‘Learn through Doing’, which underlines the organisation‘s hands-on approach to developing essential life skills among its members.

“By engaging with adult volunteers, we enhance their programmes and provide enriching experiences for the girls,” she said.
