Empowered women lead successful law enforcement operation in Dawn Park

The operation involved members of the SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, EMPD, CPF, patrollers, and immigration officers.

A co-ordinated multi-disciplinary operation was successfully conducted at the Dawn Park Shopping Center on August 21.

The operation was carried out predominantly by female officers, in line with the ongoing acknowledgement of women’s capability and contribution within law enforcement.

It involved members of the SAPS, Gauteng traffic wardens, EMPD, CPF, patrollers, and immigration officers.

According to spokesperson of the police station, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, the operation commenced with a parade led by Dawn Park SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Makgakga, who served as the operational commander, alongside Warrant Officer Mangalo of Operational Response Services.

“The event demonstrated the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement and community groups in ensuring public safety.

“Throughout the operation, several vehicle checkpoints were set up in key areas, including Barry Marais Road, Villa Liza, and Dawn Park.

“A total of 231 individuals were searched, 131 vehicles were stopped and inspected, and four traffic fines amounting to R2 000 were issued.

“Additionally, four foreign nationals were taken into custody for further investigation by immigration officers.

Mabula said as part of the second phase of the operation, they conducted an educational talk at Villa Liza Secondary School, focusing on empowering young girls with guidance and support.

“The session emphasised the importance of making positive life choices and was part of an ongoing commitment to social crime prevention.”

Mabula said in a further gesture of goodwill and support, sanitary towels were distributed to the girls, symbolizing the care and attention given to their well-being.
