Dawn Park Primary School shines at Segarona

The event, aimed at celebrating South Africa's diverse cultural heritage, invited participation from ECD centers, primary, secondary, and special schools across the district.

Dawn Park Primary School proudly represented the Ekurhuleni South District at the Segarona Cultural Heritage Competitions held from August 19 to 22 at the DH Williams Hall in Katlehong.

The event, aimed at celebrating South Africa’s diverse cultural heritage, invited participation from ECD centres and primary, secondary, and special schools across the district.

Teacher Siphesihle Mayisela said Dawn Park Primary School was privileged to participate in this celebration of cultural diversity, showcasing their talents in five categories – prepared speech, drama, mime, poetry, and visual art.

“The school’s participation was met with resounding success, as several students excelled in their respective categories, bringing home top honours.

“One learner who participated, Hilda Mbalati, secured first places in three categories – prepared speech, poetry, and visual art.

“Her outstanding achievements earned her accolades and recognition as a multi-talented rising star.

“The drama category also had the school in the spotlight, with Relebohile Mokoena taking gold in the one-act play category, captivating the audience with a powerful performance.”

Mayisela said the school’s success continued in the mime category, where the team consisting of Nqobile Thwala, Thabang Mapogo, and Esethu Mncube earned a well-deserved silver medal for their expressive and engaging performance.

“We are beaming with pride at the achievements of our learners. These young stars have not only shown their talents but have also represented their school and district with distinction.”

The school congratulates all participants and winners, recognising their hard work, dedication, and passion for the arts.
