Dawn Park Primary shines at PEP Mini Netball Festival

The event aimed to introduce young girls to the sport of netball.

Dawn Park Primary School recently made its debut at the PEP Mini Netball Festival held at Collin Mann Primary School in Germiston.

The event, organised in collaboration with South African Schools Netball (SASN), was designed for primary school learners aged 8 to 10, aiming to introduce young girls to netball.

Siphesihle Mayisela, a teacher at Dawn Park Primary, expressed enthusiasm about the festival, noting its significance for the learners.

“This was a first for our school. The festival is structured to promote participation over competition, emphasising the development of netball skills rather than focusing solely on winning or losing.

Mayisela said participants engaged in a series of organised fixtures, allowing them to showcase their budding talent on the court.

“In recognition of their efforts, all learners received participation certificates, medals, and gift vouchers, reinforcing the festival’s core message of inclusivity and skills development.

“The festival represented a valuable opportunity for young athletes to learn the fundamentals of netball in a supportive environment, setting the stage for future participation in the sport.”
