Another podium for Van Jaarsveld

She completed the race in third place in 01:26:23.

Local runner Kate van Jaarsveld added another podium finish to her list of achievements this year when she finished the women’s 21.1km at the Rockies Gerald Fox Memorial Race at Zoo Lake in third place on July 14.

The Nedbank Running Club member averaged 04:06km/min to round up the podium in 01:26:23 and finish the race 32nd overall out of over 2 000 runners.

The Benoni Northerns Athletic Club (BNAC) runner, Kaitlyn Bubb, clocked another top 10 finish after completing the race in 01:30:18 for ninth.

Samantha Reyneke (53:03) of the BNAC was the fourth junior woman at the finish in the 10km race and her teammate Jane Neilson finished the women’s grandmasters’ event ninth.

The Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC)’s Brigitte O’Connor was eighth in the women’s veterans (40-49) race. She crossed the line in 50:02.

Olympics-bound Cian Oldknow dominated the women’s race to win in 01:18:57. Cornelia Joubert grabbed the runner-up spot in 01:26:03.

The men’s race was won by Nicholas Seoposengwe in 01:07:31. Veteran runner Lucky Mohale crossed the line 01:40 behind the Boxer AC runner, while Pule Sibeko of Mr Price AC was third in 01:10:34.

The BAC’s Francois Verster was fourth in the men over 70 category.

Mthembu in top 10 at trail run

The BNAC’s Nkanyiso Mthembu finished 10th at Wildjoburg Trail Run at Thaba Trails on July 13, after crossing the line in 01:37:25 in the men’s 20km race.

Gladwin Mzazi won the event in 01:26:58. Edwin Khonkhobe (01:27:07) was second while Colin Kanyimbo was third in a time of 01:28:32.
