#MandelaDay: Boksburg residents to engage in acts of kindness

Tell us. How you are going to make a difference this Mandela Day?

July 18 marks what would have been the 106th birthday of the late former South African president and anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela.

In 2009, the United Nations proclaimed Madiba’s birthday as Nelson Mandela International Day and urged people across the globe to do acts of service on this day to honour the life and legacy of Mandela.
Indeed, with the day drawing closer, several Boksburg organisations and individuals are rolling up their sleeves to engage in various charitable causes, aimed at making a positive change in their community.
The campaign, which asks the world’s citizens, including groups and corporates, to pledge at least 67 minutes of their time to do humanitarian work, will this year be celebrated under the theme: ‘It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity’.

Some activities taking place in Boksburg to celebrate the 2024 Mandela Day and Mandela Month include:
