The Boksburg Advertiser recently spoke with locals to uncover their favourite winter pastimes.

George, Kelliegh-Ann (8), Richard and Mia Prinsloo (5) of Van Dyk Park enjoy a classic winter tradition – watching movies while sipping hot chocolate and munching on popcorn.

“It’s the perfect way to stay cosy on a cold day,” said Richard.

Zandiswa Ngoba of Windmill Park said she enjoys having soup during winter.

“I love being indoors and getting warm while enjoying a tasty soup.”

For Ngoba, soup isn’t just a meal; it’s a tradition. She enjoys experimenting with different recipes, from hearty chicken and vegetables to spicy butternut and ginger.

“It’s amazing how a good soup can bring people together. My friends often join me for soup nights, where we share stories and laughter over a steaming pot.”

Aside from these cosy indoor activities, the Boksburg community has also been engaging in other interesting winter pastimes.

Local parks have become gathering spots for families and friends to enjoy brisk winter walks, bundled up in their warmest clothes.

The cold weather has also inspired a surge in knitting and crafting clubs, where residents create handmade scarves, hats and blankets to keep warm.
