Local conservationist Jane Trembath will deliver the keynote address at this month’s U3A meeting on July 9 at Northfield Methodist Church from 10:30.

The U3A is urging retirees and those interested to join them as Trembath shares her passion for environmental conservation and the work she and her team have done around the Korsman Sanctuary.

“She’s a jewel of Benoni. Under Jane’s leadership, the wetland Korsman Bird Sanctuary has been transformed from a wetland of weeds, reeds and litter into a healthy ecosystem,” said U3A’s Colleen Russell.

“Jane won an Eco-Angel award from the Endangered Wildlife Trust earlier this year for an individual whose caring and nurturing actions have saved, conserved or restored the earth’s biodiversity, ecosystem or natural resources.

“Jane and her team have been making huge strides into the clarity of the water in Korsman Sanctuary,” added Russell.

The U3A hosts the meeting on the second Tuesday of each month and is open to all retirees. For more info, you may contact Colleen Russell on 082 346 4756.
