Dawn Park SAPS need your help

The Dawn Park SAPS appeals to the community for any information that might help solve this case.

The Dawn Park SAPS appeal to the public to come forward with any information that could help find the person responsible for dumping a foetus in a sewer on Sisonke Street, Villa Liza, which was discovered on July 2.

Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, the spokesperson for the station, said the find was reported by a passerby on his way to work, who noticed a drain filled with sewage and a plastic bag obstructing the pipe.

“Upon closer inspection, the passerby was horrified to find the lifeless body of an infant inside the plastic bag.

Authorities were immediately alerted, and the SAPS responded promptly to the scene.

Paramedics arrived shortly after but were unable to revive the baby, who was declared dead. The police have opened an inquest case, and the investigation is ongoing.”

Witnesses or those with relevant details are urged to contact the Dawn Park SAPS on 011 862 8013 or 10111.

“We urge the community not to resort to desperate measures like abandoning newborns.

Instead, we encourage individuals facing difficult circumstances to seek help from local authorities, social services or trusted organisations that can provide support and guidance during challenging times,” said Mabula.

Mabula said the foetus’ gender is still unknown.
