Boksburg Correctional Services hosts a golf day fundraiser

The event, was a dual-purpose initiative aimed at promoting employee health and wellness while also raising funds for the Boksburg Correctional Services golf club.

Boksburg Correctional Services Sub-Club Golf Executive recently organised a successful golf day fundraiser at ERPM Golf Club.

The event was a dual-purpose initiative aimed at promoting employee health and wellness while also raising funds for the Boksburg Correctional Services Golf Club.

Spokesperson of correctional services Sello Modise said, “This golf day serves as an employee health and wellness programme for officials affiliated with our golf sub-club.

Additionally, it aims to generate funds to support the activities and development of the club.

“The event had enthusiastic participation from 48 golfers representing various service providers, including Sanlam, Hollard, Old Mutual, Metropolitan, AVBOB, and Birchwood Hotel.

Additionally, 12 golfers represented Boksburg Correctional Services.

“Employee health and wellness is a cornerstone initiative within the Department of Correctional Services (DCS).

“It ensures that all officials, including managers, engage in wellness activities to enhance productivity and foster mass participation in sports and other events.

Modise said the program emphasises creating a conducive environment that supports officials’ physical,

emotional, and spiritual well-being, ultimately optimising their quality of life and fostering a productive workforce.

The day’s activities culminated in a dinner and prize-giving ceremony, generously sponsored by Birchwood Hotel.

The prizes included:

• 1st prize (top score): A weekend for two

• Longest drive prize: Weekend dinner for two

• Nearest to the pin: Weekend breakfast for two

• Ladies’ golfers prizes: Spa vouchers for each of the top three female golfers

• Participation prizes: Avbob goodie bags for 11 golfers.

In addition to the prize distribution, the event featured an auction by Pro-Fan, where attendees could bid on sports activities pictures of legends, adding an exciting element to the evening.

“This event not only supports our golf club but also brings our officials together in a healthy, engaging activity that fosters camaraderie and well-being,“ added Modise.

“We are grateful to our sponsors and participants for making this day a memorable success.“
