At 50 years old, the Dawn Park resident has made it her mission to support the needy, disabled and seniors.

Her generosity and commitment to uplifting those around her have made a significant impact, touching countless lives.

Hazel’s journey as a dedicated donor began several years ago when she noticed the struggles faced by marginalised groups in her community.

Motivated by a deep sense of compassion, she started donating essential items monthly.

Hazel Pillay donates essential items to Cynthia Nhlapho of local NPO Tshepo ya Sechaba.

“I felt compelled to help because I noticed these people are marginalised, and it is truly heartbreaking to witness.

“I make monthly donations of items like underwear, hats, scarves, clothing and food to support those in need wherever I can.”

Her efforts have been entirely self-funded, with Hazel often purchasing items from her own pocket.

“It costs nothing to help someone and I enjoy what I do. I wish I had more and could help more people.”

Hazel’s dedication has not gone unnoticed.

Local community members speak highly of her support and the positive changes she has brought about.
