According to the hospital spokesperson, Zoliswa Nzeku, the outreach aimed to educate residents on the significance of protecting children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation and to provide resources and support for those in need.

Nzeku said the Tambo Memorial Social Work Department emphasised the importance of community involvement in protecting children and preventing child abuse.

“It is crucial that we work together as a community to ensure the safety and well-being of our children.

“Events like this help us build relationships with the community and provide them with the resources they need to protect their children.

“The event was well-received by the community, with many residents expressing gratitude for the support and resources we provided,” said Nzeku.

Besides the outreach programmes, Nzeku mentioned they also held a fire awareness talk to highlight the importance of safety, particularly during cold days when people from informal settlements could get their houses burnt.

“The talk emphasised the need for fire safety awareness and education to prevent such incidents,” said Nzeku.
