Founded by professional dancers Duerell Delano de Pontes of Benoni and Chanel Jacobs of Boksburg, this year’s competition saw participants showcase their skills across many categories.

The competition began with electrifying performances in the freestyle, slow dance, couples, disco, and rock ‘n roll categories on June 8.

“The next day, the stage was ablaze again when the dancers competed in the hip-hop, slow dance, open contemporary, lyrical, jazz, amapiano, acro, breakdance, and pantsula categories.

“It was an amazingly successful two days. The performers came in numbers and showed their talents while the community supported us,” said the organisers.

Energy and enthusiasm were the order of the day.

The event had a vibrant and supportive atmosphere, with participants ranging from aspiring amateurs to seasoned professionals.

Adjudicator Joubert Jonker shared his enthusiasm for the event.

“I was humbled and honoured to be part of Legends Are Made.

“There was a wonderful energy, and we were thoroughly entertained. There was such a hunger from the performers. It is fantastic, and supporting each other is crucial in the industry.

“The Legends Are Made season two competition was a resounding success, providing a platform for talented performers to showcase their skills and for the community to come together and support local talent,” said Jonker.

The event will continue with the line dancing, belly dancing, vocals, and song and dance categories on June 15.

On June 16, performers will participate in the international ballroom Latin-American rhythm/smooth pro-am.

The organisers and participants look forward to the remaining events, which promise to be as exciting and entertaining as the first two days.
