New station commander for Dawn Park SAPS

She takes over from Lieutenant Colonel Johannes Chairman Makhubo, who has been promoted to Tokoza SAPS.

Dawn Park Police Station has welcomed a new station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sibushi Makgakga, who brings a wealth of experience in law enforcement to the position.

She takes over from Lieutenant Colonel Johannes Chairman Makhubo, who has been promoted to Thokoza SAPS.

Makgakga has been serving in the SAPS since 2002 in various positions, including acting station commander at several stations, including Thembisa, Kempton Park, Germiston, Alberton, Elsburg, Sebenza and Thokoza.

Plans
Her main goals for the next year include ensuring the Dawn Park community receives good service delivery.
“I aim to bring all perpetrators of crime, including repeat offenders, to justice,” said Makgakga.

The station commander said she wanted to build and maintain trust with the community.

She plans to ensure all appointed sector managers conduct community crime imbizos, note community concerns and provide feedback on cases to victims.

To address crime in the areas served by Dawn Park SAPS, Makgakga stated, “I will implement a sector policing strategy involving other stakeholders and will keep the blue lights on during night patrols and monitor Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) to ensure members patrol their sectors.

“By working with various community partners and maintaining a strong police presence, I aim to effectively address crime in the Dawn Park SAPS precinct.”

Upon her arrival at Dawn Park SAPS, Makgakga noted robbery with aggravating circumstances was dominating this policing area.

“My plan is to address this by conducting stop-and-search operations and inspecting case dockets to monitor detective performance.

“To prepare for future challenges, I will use predictive analysis to identify patterns and predict areas of concern.

“I will also emphasise police professionalism and code of conduct through training and education.”

In conclusion, she said she would ensure accountability and transparency within the police force by promoting data transparency and holding members accountable for their misconduct.
