EMPD swoops on alleged drug dealer at Reiger Park flats

The arrested individual is now facing charges of possession and potential dealing in illicit substances, was taken to the Reiger Park police station.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers arrested a 46-year-old male suspect found in possession of illicit substances in Reiger Park on May 14.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa, the officers received information from a reliable source about a man who was selling drugs openly to the public, around the Reiger Park flats.

The items which were discovered

“Law enforcers responded and the address was visited.

“A male foreign national, who introduced himself as the owner of the flat, granted officers permission to search him and the premises and a plastic bag of dagga, a Mandrax tablet valued at R200, and R180 cash were uncovered.

“The suspect alleged that he had been influenced by another tenant in the flat to sell marijuana and smoke Mandrax as a means of protection from potential harm, as per the prevailing street advice.”
The man faces charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances.
