School learner found with three live ammunitions

A school learner arrested with live ammunitions at Reiger Park Secondary School .

A 15-year-old Grade Nine Reiger Park Secondary School learner was arrested during a routine police search at the school on April 30 for possession of three live rounds of ammunition.

The learner was released and scheduled to appear in court.

The search was conducted by Reiger Park SAPS members, patrollers, Gauteng crime prevention wardens and volunteers from the community.

“The focus of the search was grade eight and nine classes.

“We confiscated various items, including an Okapi knife, two Viper knives, cigarettes and alcohol,” said Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Constable Johannes Msimanga.

He emphasised the importance of parental involvement in monitoring and guiding children. He issued a stern warning that learners found in possession of contraband will face the full consequences of the law.

“Parents are urged to be vigilant, check their children’s belongings regularly and actively participate in guiding them away from engaging in unlawful activities,” he said.
