Ivy moved to Boksburg from Brits in 1951.

One of Boksburg’s oldest residents, Ivy Roos, died on March 9 at the ripe old age of 104 years, six months and eight days old.

According to her family, Ivy moved to Boksburg from Brits in 1951 when her husband joined the hospital services.

In total, she lived in her house in Smuts Avenue, Cinderella, for 67 years, raising two children, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Ivy was actively involved in the church and Parkdene Tennis Club for many years and was wellknown for her fudge and coconut ice that she made for fundraising events.

After living on her own for 21 years, Ivy moved in with her son, Johan, for the remainder of her life.

She will be remembered by the family as a true pillar of strength, honesty, respectfulness and for the motto she lived her life by: “Do unto others as you want others to do unto you”.

”Our mom will be dearly missed by all her family and people who knew her,” said her son, Johan Roos, and daughter, Jeanne van Niekerk.
