The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) is hosting a free workshop to empower parents, caregivers, educators, youth leaders, and community members at Northfield Methodist Church on February 17 as part of National Teen Suicide Prevention Week.

The workshop will focus on identifying symptoms of teen depression and recognising warning signs and feature expert speakers from SADAG who will share practical strategies for starting conversations with teens, accessing help and responding effectively in crisis situations.

Attendees can expect to gain valuable insights and resources to support teens in their community who may be struggling with mental health challenges.

“We are excited to offer this workshop to the community in Benoni as part of our ongoing efforts to promote mental health education and suicide prevention,” said SADAG’s operations director Cassey Chambers.

“By equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and community members with the knowledge and tools to recognize and respond to teen depression and suicide warning signs, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth.”

The workshop will include interactive presentations, group discussions, and opportunities for attendees to ask questions and engage with SADAG representatives. Additionally, SADAG will provide brochures, informational materials, and resources to further support participants in their efforts to promote mental wellness in their community.
