Veteran Boksburg race walker Carl Meyer won two gold medals during the African Masters Athletics Championships, at Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria, from November 16 to 18. Meyer was crowned a continental champion in the men 65 and over 5 000m race walk after cutting the tape in 29:14 to win the gold medal. He also claimed another gold in the same category, albeit in the 10km road walk, crossing the line first in a time of 58:38, leaving behind compatriots Johann Coetzee and Oliver Mundell.
