Bowlers land district title

“The day presented itself with great support from bowlers across the district to support these top bowlers."

The Benoni Bowling Club pair Dea Loe and Neil Westmoreland won the men’s open pairs title during the Ekurhuleni Bowls district tournament held at the Benoni Country Club.

Loe and Westmoreland beat Kempton Park Bowling Club duo Nick Burnett and Mike Hunt in the final to walk away with the district title.

The Lake Club Bowls team of Monica Rudolph and Zoi Zietsmann won the women’s open pairs, defeating Claudette Mostert and Penny Landham from Avion Park in the final.

In the veterans’ pairs, the Lake Club team of John Millitchley and Joe Zietsman beat the Boksburg Bowling Club pair Jacobus Jacobs and Danie Steyn to win the men’s trophy.

The Alberton Bowling Club duo of Lisa Smit and Gertrude Beytel won the veteran women’s pairs after beating Nellie Pretorius and Meisie Rheeder from Kempton Park.

The tournament took place over four weeks as the district’s best took on each other for top honours.
