Doubles pair moves closer to Olympics qualification

They won the Algerian International Series women's doubles title.

Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA) pair Deidrè Jordaan and Amy Ackerman boosted their 2024 Olympics qualification after winning the women’s doubles during the Algeria International Series in October.

The duo beat Algerian pair Yasmine Chibah and Linda Mazri 21-19 and 21-12 to win the title to move to number one in the rankings on the continent and 58 in the world.

With under six months of the Road to Paris qualification cycle left Jordaan and Ackerman need to continue this momentum to qualify for the Games in France.

They are part of Badminton Confederation Africa’s Road to Paris programme and need to be ranked first on the continent and be in the top 50 in the world in order to qualify for the quadrennial games.

With one goal achieved, the EGBA members need to continue performing with the same intensity to realise their dream of representing the country in Paris.
