A 56-year-old man allegedly raped a 57-year-old woman in Ramaphosa informal settlement on April 22.
According to the Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Constable Johannes Msimanga, the woman was sleeping when she heard sounds outside and thereafter a knock on her shack’s door.
“The woman asked who was knocking and the suspect identified himself. She refused to open the door. The suspect hurled insults at the woman, whereupon she opened the door and threw water at him.
“He then held her at knifepoint and forced her to his shack, which is in the same yard. Inside, he instructed her to undress and raped her on his bed,” explained Msimanga.
He was arrested in Ramaphosa on April 23.
Msimanga advised women to be vigilant at all times and ensure they don’t open the door to anyone they don’t trust when they are home alone.
