No more animal blues thanks to SPCA outreach

The outreach encourages responsible sterilisation of animals.

The SPCA visited Blue Sky informal settlement in Boksburg North on April 18 to educate residents about sterilisation of pets and support pet owners with food for their animals.

“We took five animals for sterilisation, assisted 40 with dipping, deworming and food donations and vaccinated 10 for rabies,” said SPCA inspector Ralph Chivaviro.

This outreach will take place here every Tuesday in April.

Chivaviro explained the aim of the outreach is to encourage sterilisation, which stops unwanted breeding and decreases the population of animals born into unwanted homes.

“When pets are brought to us hurt, we question their home situations.

“It is important to follow up on the home environment to help ensure that such situations do not reoccur and that pets are well taken care of.”
