Foundation needs hands to help refurnish hospital ward

Community along with The humanity foundation rebuilds ward 10

The Humanity Foundation is set on helping refurnish Ward 10 at the Tambo Memorial Hospital.

They will launch the community project of rebuilding the ward on April 1.

According to Pierre Marneweck, the founding member and chairperson of the Humanity Foundation, the ward caught their attention on January 2 when the organisation cleaned up following the Plantation gas tank explosion that damaged parts of the hospital on Christmas Eve.

“We noticed that this ward was neglected and we wanted to help patients enjoy a speedy and comfortable recovery,” he said.

The foundation is asking for the public’s help to refurnish this ward.

“We cannot sit and wait for the government to fix everything. We are going to fix the ward with the public’s help. If people know how to paint, you can donate your time and hands. If you can build a kitchen cupboard, please assist,” Marneweck added.

The ward needs walls painted, a new kitchen and couches.

“We will also be donating toys to the children in the paediatric ward and be hosting a small memorial service for the victims of the explosion who died in the hospital.

Without the public’s help, all this will not be possible, hence our appeal for help.”
