Tambo Memorial finally appoints spokesperson

The hospital has been without a communication officer for a lengthy period.

Management at Tambo Memorial Hospital has finally appointed a communications officer for the hospital, filling a position which had been vacant for a lengthy period.

The hospital CEO, Zenzo Ndabula, introduced the newly appointed Zoliswa Nzeku on February 7. She was appointed with effect from February 1.
Armed with extensive experience in government communication and public relations management, Nzeku said she was ready for the task ahead of her.

She has served in various communication roles in the health department, including working as a communication clerk in the West Rand district health services within the Gauteng Department of Health.
Before that, she worked for the KZN Department of Health in the public relations office as an intern.

Nzeku’s new role will include ensuring that there is an improved flow of information internal and external using various and relevant tools. And a guaranteed understanding between the hospital and the public it serves.

“I am pleased to be part of the Tambo Memorial Hospital and ready to hit the ground running and see what kind of positive contribution I can make to the institution.
“I’m looking forward to learning more about the community to strengthen their relationship with the hospital. In this regard, I look forward to working with all stakeholders including the non-governmental organisations within the area,” said Nzeku.
Education
Born in Harding (KwaZulu-Natal), Nzeku said she went to Kwasanti Secondary School in Pinetown and completed his tertiary at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), where she obtained a B Tech degree in public relations management.
Ndabula said that after not having a spokesperson for many years, the institution was happy to finally fill the position.

“We are pleased to welcome Nzeku to the hospital team and the community we serve.
“We are confident that her experience, insight and capabilities will strengthen our efforts to effectively communicate the work of the hospital – as we endeavour to deliver the best service to our people,” said Ndabula.
Service delivery
As part of the hospital’s efforts to improve service delivery and ensure the provision of quality healthcare services, the hospital encourages clients to make use of the hospital’s internal complaints, compliments and suggestion platforms, preferably on the same day before leaving the hospital premises.
