CFCI Welfare brings smiles to children again
The children were excited to receive a Christmas gift.
All those without families, especially orphans and vulnerable children, the festive season is a difficult period.
Unfortunately, not everybody has the pleasure and joy of enjoying Christmas because of the circumstances they find themselves in.
It is for this reason that CFCI Welfare organised events to promote ubuntu and caring for one another during Christmas and the festive season in general.
They visited 15 orphan homes, spread throughout the communities, all at the same time, with volunteers wearing their red Serve Our City T-shirts, reaching almost 900 kids, from newborn babies to 21-year-olds.
Areas impacted are Benoni CBD, Boksburg North, Kempton Park, Norkem Park, Wattville, Brakpan, Malvern, Reiger Park, Vosloorus and Soweto.
Loving your neighbour was the message for everyone who took part in this year’s events. Every child received an age-related gift, packed in a beautiful Christmas gift bag, a scrumptious meal from McDonalds, ice cream, cupcakes and a party pack.
According to CFCI co-ordinator, Brandon Isaacs, the kids could not hide their excitement as their volunteering members approached their homes.
“The programme on the day consisted of interesting icebreakers, fun-filled games, face-paintings and inspiring messages.
“There was no shortage of creativity. They were also mindful of the significant happiness this season brings and particularly so for the caregivers at these homes that are doing what they can with what they have to ensure the children experience at least some of the delight,” he said.
Isaacs highlighted lockdown has been particularly hard on those children who have faced many hardships and continue to smile and soldier on.
Most orphanages are reliant on grants and sponsorships to provide for the children. Therefore, it is always so great to see the beaming faces of children as they feel loved and cared for.
He added CFCI Welfare will continue playing its part to make a difference in the lives of people in the surrounding areas.
